RAY CRONIN

CHAIR

Ray Cronin, one of Australia's most experienced helicopter pilots and instructors, has significantly contributed to helicopter safety, training policies, and regulations. He founded Kestrel Aviation in 1985 to address the need for helicopter pilot training, leading it to become a recognized industry leader.

Since starting his aviation career in 1975, Ray has amassed over 10,000 flight hours and continually improves helicopter operations' safety through his expertise. In 2018, he became President of the Australian Helicopter Industry Association and was awarded an OAM in 2024 for his services to aviation.

PETER BOYLE

TREASURER

Peter began his engineering apprenticeship in 1973 with Airfast Helicopters at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. After three years working in various regions, he returned to Sydney, working for Heli Support at Bankstown from 1979 to 1987, where he earned his LAME Licence in 1981.

Peter played a key role in maintaining Bell Helicopters, introducing the first NSW Police Helicopters, and developing Channel 7's Race Cam system.In 1989, he founded Helicopter Rebuilds Pty Ltd, specializing in Robinson Helicopter maintenance and support. He has been instrumental in various industry initiatives and continues to collaborate with the Robinson factory.

PAUL TYRRELL

COMPANY SECRETARY

Paul is the immediate past CEO of the Australian Helicopter Industry Association. Prior to this role he was the CEO of the Regional Aviation Association of Australia. He has worked extensively in and with the federal government in both private sector and public sector roles, particularly focused on Aviation regulatory, policy and safety issues.

Paul was the co-owner of an Aviation charter company and is an experienced pilot and past instructor. He now operates two aircraft for business and pleasure. He was a founding director and past Vice Chair of the Australian Aviation Hall of Fame. He is a registered psychologist from a previous career in the education and health sectors.
